Enjoy Jakarta Golf
Enjoy Jakarta Golf has been created by the Jakarta City Government Tourist & Culture Office to spearhead a campaign to promote Jakarta as one of Asia’s most exciting golf destinations in and around Indonesia’s capital city.
Golf Courses
There are nearly 30 courses to choose from, many of which have been designed by world-renowned architects and professional golfers including Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Greg Norman, Gary Player and Robert Trent Jones Jr, among others.

The Caddy Experience
Without doubt, the enjoyment of playing golf in Jakarta is enhanced dramatically by the ‘caddy experience’. In all golf clubs, having one caddy per golfer is mandatory, which makes for a consistent experience wherever the golfer chooses to play. Most courses have in excess of 150 caddies, all from the local community and eager to assist golf visitors from out of town.
Golf Visitor Access
While most courses in and around Jakarta cater primarily to members at weekends, nearly all courses have plenty of tee time availability for visitors mid-week, when the visitor is greeted with open arms. Depending on the course and the time of year, visitors will also be able to find tee times on a Sunday afternoon and for those more distant from the capital, Saturday play is also an option.
Visitors should be aware that for most golf clubs, public holidays are treated the same as Saturdays and also that some courses close for maintenance on Mondays.
Here is a helpful guide to the likely availability of tee times for visitors at golf clubs in and around jakarta:

Value for Money
Jakarta offers an extraordinary golfing experience at very competitive prices midweek. For visitors wishing to play at weekends and on public holidays, the cost is in line with most other popular golf destinations in Asia.
The value for money of the Jakarta Golf Experience is exceptional and applies not only to the green fees (most of which are inclusive of buggy, caddy fee, insurance and tax) but also applies to important items such as second-hand balls and rental clubs.
To play the top golf courses most popular with visitors, golfers will pay an average of only US$51 during the week, with weekend rates rising to an average of US$140.

Weather
Jakarta enjoys a tropical climate with high humidity, although the city’s coastal location provides for welcoming breezes and even testing windy conditions. The Bogor Highlands, no more than an hour’s drive from the city, have their own micro-climate with fresher conditions. As with all tropical golf destinations, it is usually best to play in the mornings if rain is expected.
Language
English is widely spoken and is, of course, prevalent throughout the tourism industry, including the hotels and golf courses and well as all of the popular restaurants, spas, malls and other city attractions popular with visitors.
Golfers from China, Korea and Japan are likely to find caddies who have learned to converse with at least a few words and phrases to make the experience of playing golf in Jakarta that much more special.
Accommodation
Jakarta is home to many of the world’s leading hotel chains as well as some very special independent hotels of the highest level. These are complemented by an enormous range of 4-star and 3-star hotels and boutique accommodation.
Selecting hotels with the best access to the golf courses and to the city’s night-time attractions is well worth considering, thereby minimising travelling times at both ends of the day.
Dining
Gastronomy is a real treat for the visiting golfer. Not only is the quality and variety of dining in Jakarta spectacular, but golf visitors of all nationalities and food tastes are catered for to the highest level at golf clubs as well.
Throughout the city and the golf clubs, there is a huge variety in choice with the local cuisine, and a wide selection of international restaurants for those who prefer something more familiar.
Nightlife
Jakarta is a very vibrant city with a tremendous variety of entertainment, dining opportunities, clubs and bars and even shopping, with many shops open well into the evening and on into the night.
Other Activities
Shopping: Jakarta’s shopping malls are very popular with visitors, offering everything from deluxe brands to unbelievable bargains.
Spa: Another major attraction for golfers and non-playing partners is Jakarta’s many world-class spa facilities. Traditional Indonesian massage focuses on aromatherapy elements.
Deep Sea Fishing: Many golfers also enjoy fishing, and deep-sea fishing is available from Jakarta Harbour.
Heritage & Culture: There are many places for golfers to visit in the city itself, including: Jakarta Old Town; markets where Jakarta’s famous street food can be sampled; museums; traditional ceremonies and puppet shows; religious sites; and parks such as the ever-popular Taman Park, the largest green area in the city. Jakarta also hosts many festivals, such as the annual Jakarta Jazz festival.
Sightseeing: The wonderful Thousand Islands are a 90-minute ferry ride from Jakarta Harbour. There are 128 small islands located in the Bay of Jakarta where speedboats can be hired for visiting secluded beaches and swimming amongst the corals.
Air Access
One of Jakarta’s greatest assets is its accessibility from so many important golf markets, with hundreds of direct flights and great connections to Indonesia’s famous beach destinations and island heartlands.
The gateway is Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK), which is close to Cengkareng Golf Club, facilitating an extra round of golf on arrival or departure. Jakarta International Airport is located 20 kilometres west of Jakarta city centre.
